Peacock Standard
The Peacock Standard is a handmade 42 key hybrid Wicki/Hayden duet concertina, designed and developed by the Concertina Connection. It is the "second tier" Duet model of our Intermediate class.
The Peacock Standard is the most popular intermediate Duet model, with hardwood ends, Engelmann spruce soundboard, flex free MS58 sheet brass riveted and bushed action, Wakker bellows with 90%+ TFT, maple amplifonic reedpans, and domed traditional metal capped buttons.
The Peacock is a hybrid concertina, featuring accordion type reeds rather than traditional concertina reeds. Accordion type reeds are a high quality economical alternative to traditional concertina reeds.
The instruments measures 7 inch across the flats and is available with ebonized (black) or natural finished ends.

Peacock Custom
The Peacock Custom is the "third tier" duet model of our intermediate class. It bridges the gap between the standard Peacock and the Wakker traditional models.
The design and size are identical to the Peacock Standard, but the materials used (tone woods, hide/bone glues, french polished finish), are the same as used in the Wakker traditional models.
The use of tonal woods allow for sound customization, amplifying or removing higher harmonics to change the brightness of the sound.
The protein glues and french polish are 'acoustically invisible', allowing soundwaves to travel through the instrument without glue barriers or a constrictive synthetic 'wrap' finish. The result is a hybrid concertina with an exeptional of tonal refinement.

Bi-directional vs. Uni-directional keyboards
The Peacock is available with both bi-directional and uni-directional keyboards. The layout is identical, but the keyboard direction is different.
Bi-diectional keyboard (standard):
Keyboard ascending direction (low notes to high notes) is top to bottom for the right hand, and bottom to top for the left hand.
Bi-diectional keyboard (standard):
Keyboard ascending direction (low notes to high notes) is top to bottom for the right hand, and bottom to top for the left hand.
Uni-directional keyboard:
Keyboard ascending direction (low notes to high notes)is identical for both hands, top to bottom.
Keyboard ascending direction (low notes to high notes)is identical for both hands, top to bottom.
