The instrument
The Minstrel is a handmade 30 key (+air button) hybrid C/G Anglo concertina. designed and built by the Concertina Connection. It is the "first tier" anglo model of our Intermediate class.
The Minstrel is a "no frill" anglo concertina with a clear sound and great dynamics. It is available in both Wheatstone/Lachenal and Jeffries layout. Both layouts have the Wheatstone/Lachenal keyboard rake.
It features all wood construction, brass riveted and bushed rod action, leather bellows, amplifonic reedpans, and either solid Delrin buttons, or traditional metal capped buttons.
The Minstrel is a hybrid concertina, featuring accordion type reeds rather than traditional concertina reeds. Accordion type reeds are a high quality economical alternative to traditional concertina reeds. The Minstrel measures 6 1/4 inch across the flats and is available with black ebonized ends.
